Welcome to MTNESTR adventures. We are Travis and Lisa, parents of three fabulous boys (men) ages 32, 28, and 22 and one very spoiled dog. (We don’t tell him he is a dog…..) We love to travel around and see new places, whether it be in our jeep locally for a day trip, across the U.S to visit family and friends, or across the world.
Travis and I have been educators for about 30 years. He is currently a middle school principal and I am a school psychometrist. We had the amazing opportunity in 2009 to travel overseas and work/teach/minister at Dalat International School in Penang, Malaysia for 4 years with our 2 youngest boys. Our oldest son was at that time serving in the US army.
We met so many amazing people and saw God work in so many lives, including our own. We were introduced to many new cultures, foods, and traditions. When we arrived back in the U.S we had quite the transition. Surprisingly enough, it was harder to move home than it was to move away. My life prior to moving out of the country had been spent mainly in one small southern town.
Upon moving back to our small town, our boys were older and moving on in the next phases of their lives and our nest was almost empty. As our youngest was finishing high school and we were traveling to ball tournaments and games across the state of Mississippi, we found a list of hamburger places that were supposed to be some of the best. As we began to check them off the list, our food adventures began. I will be adding all these hamburger stops to the blog soon. As we visited these local hamburger places, we found some cool people and listened to them tell their amazing stories. Meeting new people and hearing their stories was the best part of our adventure for sure… the burgers were pretty good also!
Recently Travis and I have discovered a love for hiking. He likes to make it sound like I have discovered a love for it and he is just along for the ride. Don’t let him fool you. At least once a month we try to find somewhere to hike/explore and while there find new places to eat. I love to share these trips with everyone, and a blog was suggested by several friends.
So we began, and now I begin to learn how to blah-blah-blog!
