Spring Break 2023, Day 2 and 3

Plans were made for day 2 before we left the house for church (sort of). We knew we both wanted to go to Sunday School at Oakland Baptist. I love my group of high school Sunday School girls. Wish I could take them all with me on this trip. They are fun!!!

LUNCH ON THE GO

Travis had me stop and pick up lunch after leaving Sunday School. Cinco Hermanos is a newer Mexican restaurant in Corinth, MS that is becoming a favorite. It was yummy and quick. Love a drive through! So quick into my tummy that I forgot to get a picture of my Chorizo Bowl.

LOAD UP, SAY BYE, PRAY, AND HEAD OUT

BUC-EE’S!!!!!!!

We arrived at Buc-ee’s in Leeds Alabama at 3:00. Quick trip. In and out in ten minutes. I wanted to stay longer but she made me leave. TS

UNUSUAL, BUT I DROVE

As you may can tell, I was driving AND TAKING PICTURES. I took over at Buc-ee’s and drove us all the way to our stopping point in Augusta, Georgia. Four and a half hours later we arrived at the Holiday Inn Express. But we didn’t stay here long.

JERSEY MIKE’S

I have eaten at Jersey Mike’s before and really liked it. It was the first time for Travis, but it got a thumbs up from him as well. The men working were nice and very helpful as we were making our choices on what to eat. It was a late dinner for us. I don’t remember the last time I ate at 8:00. They were actually starting to clean up and preparing to close. Yep, it was awesome! TS

HEADING BACK OUT

I took a few photos of our room before we left on Monday morning. It was definitely not the best hotel we have stayed in. Our room had some quirks. The soap, shampoo and body wash was at eye level. Therefore, when I squirted it out I wasn’t prepared when it squirted straight out and hit my face. We also had mood lighting in the bathroom. Only one light SORT OF worked. I had to put my makeup on by light through the windows. At least we had two of those. The lobby was nice looking and clean.

AUGUSTA, GEORGIA INFLATION

THE REAL REASON WE STAYED IN AUGUSTA, GEORGIA

I did not make the connection as to why he just had to make it to Augusta, Georgia for the night until the next day. The Masters Tournament has been watched at my house every year for as long as I can remember. For those of you who don’t know much about golf…….. “First played in 1934, the Masters Tournament is one of golf’s four “major” events, alongside the U.S. Open, the British Open, and the PGA Championship. The tournament is staged every April at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta.

It must be said that you get to see a lot more of the golf course on TV than you do by driving around the actual property. Travis got as close as he could from all sides. Check out these views. Yeah, I know. We saw NOTHING.

As I am writing this post on April 3rd, I know I’m behind, Travis is watching the Masters Tournament beginning. Yes, I am! And I will be watching it this weekend! TS

BACK TO BUC-EE’s

By 12:00 we were in Florence, Georgia enjoying a quick snack at Buc-ee’s. OH YEAH!!!!! Another quick stop. In and out in 15 minutes. Love me some Buc-ees! TS

NORTH CAROLINA

Made it to the North Carolina state line at 12:45.

ARE WE ALWAYS EATING????

Travis had taken over driving again when we left Augusta around 10:00. I had PLENTY of time (almost 4 hours) to find somewhere to eat with Jonah when we arrived in Fayetteville. I read way too many reviews. I settled in with Bubba’s 33. Anywhere that serves hamburgers gets my vote. Jonah agreed since he had never eaten there so we met up at 1:45 for lunch.

ONLY ONE OF US MADE A HAPPY PLATE

The burgers were huge. It didn’t help that we started with fried pickles for an appetizer. Oh wait…. it helped my feelings!!! We hit the special of the day as well. All burgers were only $9.99. I added egg and jalapenos/hold the cheese. Yep, it was GREAT! I won’t tell who ate the WHOLE thing. She’s holding back that it was me. TS

I was almost overwhelmed by the number of TV’s They were everywhere.

DOWNTOWN

I obviously had time to find a coffee shop and candle making store while we were driving. Remember, I had almost 4 hours to look. So downtown Fayetteville we went. There were cool trees, old buildings, and fancy churches to see on the way and while we walked around the downtown area with Jonah.

INTERESTING AREA

WE WENT TO THE RIGHT

LOVE AN OLD BOOK STORE

RUDE AWAKENING

Rude Awakening, what a CREATIVE name for a coffee shop. We couldn’t resist. It was so CUTE. The back sitting area was the best. It needed to be a little warmer to take advantage of it though. Average smoothie for me instead of coffee was a mistake. TS

MAKING CANDLES (I wish)

Hummingbird Candle Co. was the coolest store ever. If we had had time, I would have poured my own candle. Instead, I just smelled a bunch of them trying to chose and got a headache. Fun ladies night out party spot though. I settled on C15. Travis approved the smell so it was a win/win.

SHORTEST VISIT EVER

Met up with Jonah in Fayetteville at 1:40 to eat. Visited, delivered his Girl Scout cookies and Air Fryer, then said goodbye at 4:45. It was short but worth it. TS

4 1/2 HOURS LATER WE ARRIVED IN ASHEVILLE, NC

Travis had me find the hotel this time as we drove. I picked it based on the location. I remembered the Brevard area from a girl’s trip a view years ago. It may be the most unique hotel we have stayed at in a while. We left the hotel in Augusta, Georgia at 9:30 A.M. We are back in a hotel in Asheville, NC at 9:30 P.M. That is a LOT of driving for such a short visit. Kids are worth it though (most of the time).

Panoramic View from the curve in the room.

BEDTIME

I was ready for bed as soon as we arrived. Day 4 coming soon!! Hurry up honey and get this done! People are losing sleep…TS
