Patti’s 1880 Settlement with the Patriarchs
Fun day trip to Patti’s Settlement in Grand Rivers Kentucky with Mom, Dad and my older sister Tonya. I couldn’t resist the “Older” comment. We loaded up about 8:30 and headed North.
Load Up
We stopped at Tonya’s house which is right next door. We then stopped at Love’s for a bathroom break and to fuel up at Eastview…….I know, we didn’t get far. Tonya and I are so different. One of the many ways is displayed in the picture of the air controller. I had my seat warmer on and temperature set to 73. She had the seat fan on and set to 67. Got to love dual air.
Making Memories
As we took off again, we took a road trip picture to remember. Not real sure what I was looking at.
Next Stop
We made the next pit stop at the Country Store which was 90 minutes up the road. Loved my snack that Tonya and I were going to share, but I ended up eating all of them. Hmmm, did Tonya pay for those? Oh well.
Upcoming Trip Maybe
As we were driving along the scenic roads catching the last of the fall leaves, we drove through one of my next potential trips. Paris, Tennessee looked so cool. We drove right through the downtown area and it was so inviting. However, we were on a set schedule since we had to return home the same day we left for this trip.
Kentucky and Another Cool Town
Welcome to Kentucky and the town of Hazel. They have 2 antique shops on the main street. Who wouldn’t want to stop at “Get it Straight from the Horse’s Mouth Antiques?”
We Made It to Grand Rivers
Delicious Lunch
3 1/2 hours after leaving Corinth, MS we made it to Patti’s in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. Since it was after 12:00, we were all hungry. The first place we headed after parking was to the restaurant for lunch. Their food is one of the biggest reasons people come to Patti’s Settlement. There are multiple restaurants, but we chose Patti’s, open since March 27, 1977. https://www.pattis1880s.com/ The pictures of the food on their website are not misleading. We had to take home the leftovers.
Gearing up for Christmas
They have been putting up lights since Labor Day weekend getting ready for November 4th, the first day of the Festival of Lights. I walked around to take a few pictures inside the restaurant. Each room was decorated differently. The time of day made the lighting hard to take good pictures.
Typical
This is a typical series of photos to get a good one. What you don’t get is Tonya barking at them. Bless her, Mom just stands there and smiles.
Just as Bad
We took several ourselves, but I cheated and deleted the ones I didn’t like.
A Walk Around
Now that we were stuffed, we had to walk around to let the food digest and settle. So many boutiques and shops just a short walk all around the restaurant area. They were busy putting up lights all around us. Maybe we will get to come back another trip and see the Festival of Lights.
LOVE THESE TWO
Photo Lessons Needed
Mom offered to take mine and Tonya’s picture. We laughed So HARD through the process. Love these memories. We started with selfies…
DAD GAVE POINTERS!
EYES ClOSED AND WHERE IS THE BACKDROP????
I GAVE POINTERS
I showed mom the picture I had taken of them and we tried again. Her leveler is a little off and who needs the top header???? We were cracking up when we looked at them all. She was happy with them and that was all that mattered.
Lots of Christmas Pictures and Memories will be made here
Shopping, Strolling, Chatting and Taking It All In
I think Dad talked to everyone he saw. Then he would just find a seat and wait on us. Sometimes Mom would join him.
Tried a selfie… Then someone took pity on us.
Photos on the way out
These were some pictures of places we did not have time to stop and see. Just means another trip on another day.
Lighthouse Landing
Back in Paris
Tonya saw a consignment shop as we travelled back through Paris, TN. Dad and Mom did not get out of the car. Dad grumbled and we hurried.
Home Again
After one more Quick Stop, we rolled back into MS about 7:00 p.m. It was a great day and lots of wonderful memories made.
