Marshall’s Steakhouse

Marshall’s Steakhouse is located at 2379 Hwy. 178 West in Holly Springs, Mississippi. Travis and I made the 60 mile trip to eat at Marshall’s on the recommendations by several friends. Travis had called the weekend before to made reservations. They will not take reservations for the day that you call so he made a reservation for 5:30 on Saturday, May 14th. People that do not have a reservation may just have a wait time. It is WORTH IT.

BIRTHDAY PARADE

We were close to arriving at Marshall’s and in plenty of time to meet our 5:30 reservation time when we got caught right behind a long line of cars coming out of a parking lot with their flashers on. Travis thought we were following a large funeral. As we topped a hill, I could see a firetruck at the beginning, so I thought maybe we were behind a group of high school seniors going somewhere with an escort. The farther we went, the slower the cars went. Neither of us guessed correctly.

We were actually in a BIRTHDAY PARADE. I think we were the first ones in the line of cars that the family did not know. They kept recording their video as we honked the horn and waved driving by. Years from now people will wonder who those people were at the end of the birthday parade. The birthday girl was 95!!!!!!! and sitting in her wheelchair at the end of the driveway watching.

UPON ARRIVAL

Upon arriving, we were taken straight to our table. The service was prompt and people were very polite. We started with the Dang Dang Shrimp for an appetizer, breaded shrimp tossed in sweet, spicy chili aioli. ($13)

Voted BEST STEAK IN MISSISSIPPI 2019 and 2020

For the main meal, we shared a 16 oz RIBEYE. They advertise it as “Our #1 Selling Steak! Voted BEST STEAK IN MISSISSIPPI 2019 and 2020 by the Mississippi Beef Council.” ($52) Travis added French Onion soup and I had the salad in addition to sharing the Garlic Smashed Potatoes.

Everything we ate was all that I had hoped it would be. It was pricey but worth it. If we lived closer, I would be tempted to eat here often so it is a good thing that it is a road trip for us.

As we were waiting on our food to arrive, I walked around and took pictures of the restaurant.

The restaurant’s features include all handmade table slabs, catering, bars upstairs and downstairs, a concert area and dance floor, and a 3,000-square-foot patio that can be reserved for private events. The restaurant is heated with wood stoves throughout the restaurant in the winter. Inside seating is set for 350 people with room outside for 300 more.

For those who come really hungry, the restaurant offers the “72-ounce sirloin project” where customers have to eat a whole 72-ounce sirloin in an hour. If they complete the challenge, the steak is free and they get their names on a plaque.

OUTSIDE FUN AND ENTERTAINMENT

Even though we chose to eat inside the restaurant, customers can cook their own hamburgers or steaks outside near picnic tables. Customers can select their meats inside and then go outside and cook their meal on a “state park type grill.” The restaurant will have a number to call when your meat is almost ready and run a batch of hand-cut fries out to your table.

Outside you can sit by a fire, play corn hole, swing, slide, and listen to live music. Since we are such mature people, we headed for the swings and slide. The swings were pretty safe for us. The slide might not have been such a great idea.

The TIK TOK was created by my sister Tonya when I sent her the video I took along with the video Travis had taken. It was not planned, but it was my first Tik Tok ever!!!! I hope the link works. If not I will work on it and repost.

After the CRAZY ride down the slide, I decided that we were all finished for the night. I took the last few pictures as we headed out. We waved to the guys at the entrance helping park cars. It had gotten crowded and they were having to help manage the additional parking area.

STILL PARTYING

Party was still going on as we traveled back up the highway. The 95 year old lady was still awake ……..Travis and I were home before dark and in bed not long after dark. I need to go ask her how she does it!!!!!!
