Food, Friends, and Jesus in Jonesboro Arkansas

I have had 2 opportunities lately to travel to Jonesboro. First trip was February 9, 2022, due to a blessing from my sister Tonya. She gave me a ticket to see Crowder, Toby Mac, Cochren & Co., Cain, and Terrian in their opening night of the TobyMac Deep Hits Tour 2022. The tickets were for seats on the floor and every group was phenomenal. TobyMac and Crowder especially!!!!!!!! I sang, I praised Jesus, and I was truly blessed to have been able to go.

My friend Becky went with me, and we had so much fun chatting and catching up with each other. We googled places to eat and things to see all the way from Memphis to Jonesboro. We even Face Timed with my son Jonah, and he was helping us all the way from Alaska. We had a restaurant, Porch 30, picked out and knew what we were going to order. When we arrived at 2:57 they informed us that they close at 3:00. We were super bummed, and they just laughed at us like we were crazy. Maybe Becky and I are a little crazy when we get together?????

Blessed

Travis and I traveled back through Jonesboro on our way to Branson, MO in hopes of eating chicken curry waffles at Porch 30. It was supposed to be open. However, due to the cold weather it was CLOSED. I did realize this trip that Porch 30 is part of a group of stationary type food trucks. The weather was just too cold today I guess since crazy southern weather was 38 degrees. ICHYIA was so good last time that I took Travis there. As we were walking up and down the street, we heard Motley Crue playing at a grill. Travis was tempted and it was a close call, but Asian cuisine won out in the end.

Travis and I attended a marriage enrichment class at an FCA camp in Black Mountain in the early 2000’s. I remember a few things about the camp such as I played basketball and volleyball with Tony Dungy’s wife….. She was a really good athlete, and I was just present. I witnessed to a woman at the laundromat, and she prayed to receive Jesus as her Savior. Travis and I began holding hands whenever we pray. What began over 20 years ago is just as special today as it was when we started.

We usually end up in some type of junk store or thrift shop and this trip was only different in that we didn’t buy anything. As we cruised out of town on our way toward Branson, we saw the older houses in Jonesboro. I even found us a fixer upper. I bet the upkeep is out of this world to keep them nice. Gas was $3.99 in Corinth, MS when we left. It was typically $3.89 around Jonesboro. No telling what it will be when we head back home. However, it did not stop us from heading out on an adventure first chance we got during spring break 2022.
